With her personal background, Mitch Otlacan aims to honour her Romanian roots and make Romania's rich cultural heritage accessible to a wider audience.

With her band OTLACAN, she fuses elements of jazz, soul and bossa nova with traditional Romanian music through creative reinterpretations that preserve the essence of the original melodies while enriching them with new rhythmic and harmonic dimensions.

OTLACAN made its stage debut in 2024 at the renowned Young Lions on Stage jazz festival at the Jazzstudio Nuremberg.

Further performances followed at Tafelhalle Nuremberg, OstAnders Festival and Staatstheater Nuremberg.

​

In 2025 they released their Debut EP "remembering my roots" featuring a selection of songs that have influenced the bandleader since early childhood.​​​
